Rocky Votolato To Play The Wire on May 6th

Rocky Votolato will be playing one of the best small clubs in So Cal, The Wire, on Sunday May 6th. This show is one of only three So Cal stops on the current tour, supporting his Television of Saints album, which was just released on April 3rd. Gorgeous, introspective, folky fare, Votolato is the perfect sort of artist to see at this intimate little venue. The album, Television of Saints, is one of the many recent independent albums to  benefit from fan support on Kickstarter, fostering a really personal connection with the music consumer. The Wire is one of those great venues where the performers tend to meet everyone who is interested in meeting them, further fostering that connection. So come out and see the show, buy the album, and you could easily get lucky with the opportunity to meet Rocky.

The Front Bottoms Announce Dates With Motion City Soundtrack

April 25, 2012

"If you missed New Jersey’s The Front Bottoms, you missed one of the best new acts I’ve seen this year." - CultureMob

"The young duo's smart, irreverent, self-titled debut strikes a deft balance between the comical and the emotional..." - NPR
"Self-destructive and assuredly creative, this band just might be their own steroids." - The Deli

BERGEN COUNTY , NJ – After wrapping up pivotal tours supporting Say Anything, Dashboard Confessional, Hot Rod Circuit, Matt Pryor of The Get Up Kids, and Kevin Devine – New Jersey indiepop duo THE FRONT BOTTOMS continue to build momentum by announcing a string of dates supporting Motion City Soundtrack. But before they join the MCS motorcade, they’ll be hopping in their van for a condensed headline tour, which kicks off at Rumba Café in Columbus, Ohio and guides them to the West Coast over a five-day span where they’ll join forces with Motion City Soundtrack from June 14th until July 1st.

The Front Bottoms were flying under the radar until their eccentric, catchy indiepop was detected by the likes of the Alternative Press, Filter, DRUM Magazine, All Music Guide, AOL, Absolute Punk, Aquarian Weekly, Jersey Beat, and many others. The Jersey Journal, described their music as “…quirky love songs with dollops of synths, trumpet, and strings that command your attention”. The Star-Ledger adds “It is hard to come away from an encounter with The Front Bottoms without developing protective feelings about the band akin to those that Jonathan Richman’s fans feel about him” and theLos Angeles Times declared “This is a pop soundtrack for learning to live in the moment”. In addition to the essential regional and national media, The Front Bottoms have caught the ear of key radio stations including KROQ in Los Angeles, WRFF Radio 104.5 and WXPN in Philadelphia, WFUV in New York, and Chicago’s WXRT among many others.

The Front Bottoms kicked off 2012 by being named January’s “Band of the Month” by Macbeth Footwear, followed by a live in-studio performance at Philly’s non-commercial ace WXPN (88.5 FM), which was their featured Free At Noon show at World Café Live. Their performance was also simulcast on NPR and can be heard here: After a 2011 that was nothing less than groundbreaking, 2012 seems to be on-track to hold even more impressive accomplishments in store. Due to their captivating sound, singable lyrics, and witty and oft times irreverent posts - they’ve developed a cult-like following on their social networks.

The Front Bottoms’ self-titled debut was released on September 6, 2011 via Bar/None Records. The Front Bottoms is Brian Sella (vocals/guitar) and Matt Uychich (drums, bullhorn), with Drew Villafuerte accompanying the band at live performances.

Eve 6: Speak In Code

This week marked the arrival of the new release, Speak in Code, from nineties poster boys Eve 6. Though it's been eight years since their last album, it's almost like they were never gone. Speak In Code is set to slide the band neatly back into the hearts of all those who loved them before. This rings loudest with the songs "Lost and Found" and "Pick Up The Pieces" which are particularly true to the vintage Eve 6 sound. While parts of this album lean more heavily towards the dance-pop arena than old-school Eve 6 fans may be comfortable with, the fact of the matter is the climate of the music industry has changed. Up-tempo dance-oriented music is what is selling. Not making at least some degree of nod to that fact would be to ignore one of the strongest revenue streams available. With Speak In Code Eve 6 are confidently making that acknowledgement while still keeping the music tied to an underlying structure that is undeniably theirs and theirs alone. With any luck, that is going to open them up to a whole new audience, while still bringing the tried and true old-schoolers along for the ride.

Lostprophets To Release "Weapons" on Fearless

Fearless Records has launched the pre-order for the North American release of Lostprophets’ long-waited new LP Weapons at:
Fans will get an instant download of the band’s current single “Bring ‘Em Down” with each pre-order.

Formed in Pontypridd, South Wales, the Welsh rock band have made their mark on both sides of the Atlantic with their blend of strong melodic choruses and aggressively edged rock. Through four previous albums - 2000's fakesoundofprogress, 2004's Start Something, 2006's Liberation Transmission, and 2010's The Betrayed - the band has grown, both in songwriting and success, stacking up a dozen or so top 40 singles and selling over 2 million albums worldwide.  Recipients of Kerrang! Magazine's 2010's Classic Songwriters Award, Lostprophets have become one of the U.K.'s biggest rock bands, gracing countless magazine covers and headlining stages at Reading/Leeds and Download Festivals.

"With the business being as it is, and America being such a huge market to be absent from, we couldn't be more flattered and excited that Fearless are giving us another crack at it - Another shot, if you will. Warped Tour will remind everyone - old fans and new - how good it is having Lostprophets on these shores. It's been a long time since a UK rock band has made a real impact in America and we're ready to carry that torch." - Ian Watkins, Lead Vocals

Weapons will be the band's first North American release since "Liberation Transmission", and will be available on June 19th, 2012. The album was recorded in North Hollywood, CA at NRG Studios with producer Ken Andrews (A Perfect Circle, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club).

New York, NY- HE IS WE are set to hit the road on the "Give It All Tour", commencing May 2, 2012 in Minneapolis, MN at the Varsity Theater and including an appearance at the Bamboozle Festival. Supporting their recently released EP, SKIP TO THE GOOD PART, the duo's shining folk-infused pop will cast a spell over audiences across the U.S.
Coming off a recent jaunt alongside The Cab, the group's live show remains as undeniable as its studio output. Their most recent single "All About Us" [Featuring Owl City] continues to captivate. Exceeding over four million YouTube/VEVO views, it's become a signature anthem on stage. However, it's only one of six gems on SKIP TO THE GOOD PART. You won't want to skip a moment of the EP.
As HE IS WE—Rachel Taylor and Trevor Kelly—prep for the tour, they've also begun assembling ideas for their much-anticipated next album, due out later this year via UNIVERSAL REPUBLIC RECORDS. As they preview demos on their Facebook for fans, the band continues to personally stir fervor. It's only the beginning though.
Soon, HE IS WE will "Give It All" on the road, and anyone present won't forget it.

Debuts First Single "State of Grace" on Huffington Post
New Album
EXISTER In Stores on 5/15
First Album in Eight Years

As the anticipation ramps up for the May 15, 2012 release of HOT WATER MUSIC's first album in eight years, EXISTER, media juggernaut Huffington Post has exclusively posted "State of Grace", the first single from the album. To listen to the track, find it here: The second track unveiled from the album ( posted album track "Drag My Body" on March 28th), "State of Grace" is what bassist Jason Black describes as “three chords and the truth,” showcasing the band’s ability to successfully balance their formative punk-rock grit with an engagingly catchy melody.
In celebrating the release of Exister, the band will be playing a handful of record release shows in NYC, Philadelphia, and SoCal as well as festivals such as Monster Bash (Berlin, Germany), Groezrock (Meerhout, Belgium), and The Bamboozle (Asbury Park, NJ). A full tour will be announced at a later time (confirmed tour dates below).
EXISTER artwork

Recorded this past January at the Blasting Room in Fort Collins, CO with Descendents' Bill Stevenson (Bouncing Souls, Rise Against, NOFX) in the producer's chair, Exister isn't the sound of a band greasing their wheels but a band revved up and raring to go. "Recording the album was amazing... better than any of us expected, for sure," Jason says. "It seems like the time off, coupled with everything we've all learned doing other projects and honing our respective crafts during that time, really worked in our favor and enabled us to have a basically unending flow of ideas and creative sparks."
Hot Water Music first formed in 1993 in Gainesville, FL and quickly rose to the top of the post-hardcore punk scene. After releasing seven studio albums, two compilations, one live album and countless numbers of 7"s, EPs and splits, the band took an indefinite hiatus in 2005 but reunited in 2008 and have been playing numerous festivals, quick tour runs, and one-off shows ever since.
Hot Water Music is Chuck Ragan (vocals, guitar), Chris Wollard (vocals, guitar), Jason Black (bass), and George Rebelo (drums). Exister was produced by Bill Stevenson and will be released on May 15, 2012 on Rise Records.

Xavier Rudd Takes Flight

"Not only is he a master of music, but an avid surfer with a laid-back, mellow approach. Although humble, Rudd exudes an extremely proud vibe — not of his own accomplishments, but of what he represents." - Charleston City Paper

Sometimes, the most unique and special sounds are the most organic. For singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist XAVIER RUDD, connecting land and heart isn’t a matter of conscious art but a humble understanding that everything before us will remain long after we are gone. Crossing cultural lines from the modern world to that of the Aborigines, Rudd continues his journey to become one of Australia’s most iconic voices today with the release of his seventh album (and first for SideOneDummy) SPIRIT BIRD on June 5, 2012.
A performer who truly lives to the natural beat of the world, Rudd fuses hypnotic ceremonial rhythms into tender and breezy folk songs, creating a vibe and tone that is unmistakably earthy and excitingly expansive. Not afraid to kick off an album with didgeridoo, rain forest sounds, and aboriginal chanting like he does with opening track “Lioness Eye”, his fearlessness in experimentally incorporating indigenous sounds and rhythms is rarely, if ever, seen in pop music. Accompanied by a plaintive harmonica and acoustic guitar, “Comfortable In My Skin” sets the breezy tone that hearkens Chuck Ragan in a more contemplative mode or what Bob Dylan would have sounded like if he surfed. The lead-off track, “Follow the Sun” ebbs and flows hypnotically, with a lilting guitar line and a flitting harmonica that propels you forward in a breezy haze. Where most modern artists pile on electronics with studio effects, Xavier strips everything down to rhythm and melody, painting breathtaking pictures with broad tonal brushstrokes and highlights it with his smooth and soothing vocals. By incorporating aboriginal chants into the fabric of the title track, Xavier constructs an epic goosebump-inducing song that soars in otherworldly bliss, cathartically crashing into a whispered hush.

Releasing his debut To Let in 2002 to local acclaim, Xavier’s weaving of native music into his folk music helped reintroduce Australians to the sounds and stories of the land’s original owners while revealing an entirely new sound to the rest of the world. Building a strong reputation on his live performances, he has traveled the world playing festivals such as Bonnaroo Music Festival, Lowlands, Rock Werchter, The High Sierra, Wakarusa, etc. as well as touring with Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, Ben Harper, G. Love and Rodrigo y Gabriela.

Spirit Bird will be released on SideOneDummy Records on June 5, 2012.
