Versus The World/Unwritten Law at HOB: 11/24/12

Thanks to unfortunate circumstance, I was only able to catch the end of Versus The World's set on Saturday night, but that was certainly enough to leave me wanting more. The band produced one of the best cd's of the year, Drink.Sing.Live.Love and from the part of the set I was able to catch, they seem to be one of the years' most appealing live bands as well. There is something to be said for punk rock bands comprised of musicians with a lot of experience under their belts. When all of the pieces fall together just right you get a band like Versus The World, that feels like everyone involved knows they have hit on something very special this time around.

Unwritten Law's set took longer than expected to erupt into moshing and fighting, only turning to seriously rough an hour into the set. Mickey Avalon took the stage for guest vocals on one number much to the delight of the seriously inebriated crowd, just before the fighting got really ugly and I gave up and left after an elbow to the ribs from a security guard trying to violently subdue a drunk guy.
