Girls, Cars, And Boys With Guitars: Hootenany 2012

Girls, cars, and boys with guitars were all in plentiful supply at today's Hootenany 2012 at Oak Canyon Ranch in Orange County.
The worlds of punk and rockabilly cohabitated quite comfortably on this very warm summer day. Except for a few heated exchanges close to the stages, the crowd seemed quite happy to people watch, listen to music, and do some major shopping at the multitude of unique clothing booths at the festival.

The intriguingly mixed group of performers pretty much guaranteed that you got to see some performers you weren't familiar with. One of the killer surprises for me was Old Man Markley. Bouncing Souls and The Reverend Horton Heat drew two of the biggest and most boisterous crowds of the day, but there was really no question that the overwhelming majority of the crowd was there to see Rancid.
Despite sharing the news of his fathers' recent passing, Tim Armstrong and crew turned in a stellar (and occasionally airborne) set.
