The Boys Are Back: Lit "The View From The Bottom"

It's been far too long, but with the release of THE VIEW FROM THE BOTTOM, it is safe to say 'the boys are back'. Between A. Jay Popoff's, Elvis Costello reminiscent croon and brother Jeremy's dirty, sexy, fierce guitar work I'd say these boys are back like they haven't ever been gone. Except of course they have endured the unspeakable tragedy of losing Allen to cancer, and have finally found it within themselves to pick up and carry on in his honor. With Nathan Walker assuming the throne and the addition of Ryan Gillmor on guitar, Lit's sound is stronger and more fleshed out than ever.

With Butch Walker at the helm there was some worry that this album would come off too pop or too much sounding like Butch, but neither of these predicted criticisms came true. Instead they are just their ever charming, rock boy selves. So many bands try to imitate this sort of badass swagger and come off as comical wannabees, where as these boys pull it off because it's just who they are.

Reel Big Fish "Candy Coated Fury"

I have never had any particular desire to have a song as a ringtone until now. "Everyone Else Is An Asshole" the lead track off the new Reel Big Fish album CANDY COATED FURY (out this Tuesday 7/31) has now been adopted as my favorite tongue-in-cheek theme song. This album is filled with amazing gems of nastiness wrapped in delightfully "candy coated" ska charm. For twenty years Reel Big Fish have been incredibly fun and with CANDY COATED FURY they prove that not only have they not lost a step, but may have produced one of the best albums of their career. "I Know You Too Well To Like You Anymore" may be one of the best breakup songs ever recorded, perfectly capturing the frustration of realizing that someone you once adored could not possibly drive you any crazier. As Reel Big Fish head off to rock the hell out of Russia and the UK next month, we doff our caps to the once and future kings of ska.

The All-American Rejects and Eve 6 Come to the OC Fair

The All American Rejects will be playing the OC Fair on August 8, 2012, with Eve 6 opening the show. Tickets start at $25.00 and include admission to the fair. Originally formed in 1995 (Eve 6) and 1999 (AAR) these bands are living, breathing proof that you can still have a long career in the music industry, even if you have to endure ups and downs to do it. In honor of their long, successful career, we've reached back into the archives for shots from an AAR show in December of 2006.

July 27, 2012 – Los Angeles, CA – Austin, TX's anthemic indie-rock band The Rocketboys have released their first ever official video for there track "The Best" (http://youtu.be/SK9CU74Y1bo), which is the last song on their recently released album Build Anyway.
A true epilogue to the new record, singer Brandon Kinder comes to terms with his disappointment and anger towards former bandmates and even makes something of an apology for his pain: "You spent your time trying to make a better life, while I was spending mine making up bitter rhymes"; "All those words I wrote, they've already died...If I ever had brothers, I hope you know that you were them".  It's a fitting and powerful end to a soaring rock record that covers endless ground in the search for explanations for the fragmentation and almost-breakup of the band.
The Rocketboys also announce a Fall tour schedule for August-October which covers the Central and Eastern US. A co-headline tour with Bearcat, the tour is in support of Invisible Children and will make available limited edition I.C. posters.  Download a free two song tour sampler, which includes an acoustic version of The Rocketboys’ new single “The Best” and Bearcat’s song “Let’s Be Honest,” here: http://www.mediafire.com/?0502khkemh3bd1z.

The Bolts To Play Sunset Music Festival: 8/18 at 1pm

“What sets The Bolts apart from other bands is that each member of this group is frontman material. They perform a variety-blended style that appeals to a wide audience and it rocks.”
“Radio-friendly modern rock with strong hooks.”
“Young & Energetic.”

“Just Awesome!”
Southern California’s explosive modern rock-pop act, The Bolts, are set to release back-to-back seasonal EP’s kicking off with the release of aptly titled Fall 2012 EP on September 21. The classic yet contemporary quintet comprised of bassist and vocalist, Addam Farmer; guitarist and vocalist Heath Farmer; keyboardist and vocalist, Austin Farmer; guitarist and vocalist, Ryan Kilpatrick; and drummer Matt Champagne, is influenced by artists like The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Queen, The Clash, The Killers, The Strokes, My Chemical Romance and Modest MouseThe Bolts nonchalantly showcase stadium ready talents with confidence as if it were their birthright.  Well, that's pretty much true for siblings, Adam, Heath and Austin Farmer, who along with fellow Bolts, Matt Champagne and Ryan Kilpatrick create a powerfulpop rock sound that pulsates with muscular musicianship, brilliant 4-part vocal harmonies, and multiple lead vocalists.

In the last 12 months, The Bolts have landed music licensing spots on MLB, MLB All-Star Game, MLB World Series, NASCAR, UEFA Soccer Championships, Delta Airlines, television shows, Degrassi, and Necessary Roughnessbranded marketing strategic partnerships with You Rock Digital Guitars, SurfSET and Hello Music. Additionally, The Bolts catchy single “Walk Away” is featured in a new SoBecommercial, which stars Sports Illustrated cover supermodel Kate UptonOver 4 million combined YouTube hits for this commercial: http://youtu.be/8pUiL_G343g

The Bolts first experienced local success in 2007 when the band landed five demo songs on the local rock radio station, KROQ, after being together less than four months. Soon after, the band started winning local battles of the bands and other competitions, eventually leading them to earn the title of Orange County’s ‘Best Pop Artist’ from the OC Music Awards.

The Bolts have been busy playing numerous residencies and gigs in and outside of their native Orange County. In just a short period of time, The Bolts have developed an army of devoted fans who mobilize at a moment’s notice for their energetic performances fromSan Diego to Los Angeles, turning up in frenzied droves at their ongoing residencies atThe Roxy and Disneyland's Tomorrowland Terrace.  They play about 20 shows per year at Tomorrowland Terrace, which is a residency once held by No Doubt amongst other notable OC bands, and are due to perform 10 more shows there this year. Playing in the Magic Kingdom also puts the group in front of an international audience, something that has helped boost interest in the band and broadened its social-network fan base. The performance demands have also fine-tuned them, leading to constant writing, rehearsing and learning cover songs to keep things from getting repetitive. “We do ‘Kids’ by MGMT … ‘Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked’ by Cage the Elephant … and we do some crowd favorites, classics like the Beach Boys songs. We also do a cover of Coldplay’s ‘Viva La Vida,’ and we took the orchestra parts and made it into total guitar and keyboard rock. People seem to really like it.”

With the release of their 2 EP’s entitled, Fall and Winterfollowed by their official full-length release, The BOLTS, the time is now to take on the world on their terms—they won't be "just another band from LA" for very long.

The Band has opened for Honor Society, Third Eye Blind, Allstar Weekend, David Cook and appeared on local TV morning shows NBC Los Angeles, KDOC and Good Day LA.

Reel Big Fish Do Good

For Immediate Release

Reel Big Fish Donate Proceeds from Recent Colorado Show to Victims and Families Affected By the Aurora Theater Shooting

A Message From Reel Big Fish:

Last Thursday night, Reel Big Fish played to an amazing Denver crowd. The night was buzzing with positive energy as the last notes of the horns blared and the audience poured into the dark to head home. Little did we all know; right down the street, a tragedy of unspeakable horror was unfolding, in Aurora. Because of the love that Denver always shows us, we would like to do what we can for the friends and families of the victims. Proceeds from our show at the Belly-up in Aspen, CO last Friday July 20 will go to The Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance. Our booking agency, The Agency Group will also be making a donation. If you wish to donate or learn more about the organization visit www.coloradocrimevictims.org.  All our love goes out to the people of Denver in this time of sorrow. Music and dancing is good medicine. Be with friends and boogie!

Much love,

Reel Big Fish

Last Chance To See Basement

UK Indie Rockers Basement To Go On Indefinite Hiatus After Current U.S. Tour
Band’s 2nd LP Colourmeinkindness Out This Fall on Run For Cover Records

The UK indie rockers known as Basement have announced plans to go on an indefinite hiatus after wrapping up their .U.S. tour which kicks off today at Santa Barbara’s Sound & Fury Fest. The band just finished recording their 2nd LP, Colourmeinkindness, with producer Sam Pura in Northern California this week. The album will be released by Run For Cover Records this fall.
In a joint statement released to the media yesterday, the band says:
Now Colourmeinkindness is finished, we head out to play a string of shows across America. Due to a number of personal commitments, this record and these shows will be the last thing we do as a band for a very long time. Basement has never been about achieving anything; it was simply an enjoyable outlet for creativity and emotion. That being said, we are incredibly grateful for the support we have received over the last two years. We have managed to do some amazing things and see some incredible places and the people we have met along the way will be our friends forever. We seriously cannot express sufficiently how much this means to us. We all have things going on outside of the band that require a lot of time and attention and now more than ever these things have to come first. – Basement

Dead Sara Announce Tour With Neon Trees and The Offspring!

Los Angeles, CA - July 19, 2012 - Dead Sara has announced a new North American tour with renowned punk rockers The Offspring kicking off August 31st in Detroit, with Neon Trees slated to join the tour beginning September 6th in Boston. To further support the recent release of Dead Sara's self-titled debut album, the band has also added further U.S. and festival dates through the summer and into the fall including the Sunset Strip Music Festival in Los Angeles, Riot Fest in Chicago and the Epicenter Festival in Irvine. Dead Sara have been attracting major buzz for the ferocious spectacle of their high-octane live performances on The Vans Warped Tour earlier this summer.

Revolver says "the buzz around LA-based hard-rock outfit Dead Sara is reaching fever pitch" and indeed it is. The group has been earning accolades from radio and critics alike, while winning over fans coast-to-coast on previous tours with Chevelle, The Used, and now The Vans Warped Tour. Rolling Stone recalled the band "blending blues, hard rock and punk into a whirling energy," with The Village Voice going on to illustrate them as a "sort of twisted-blues hard rock that feels like the product of people really enjoying playing the shit out of their instruments," adding "If there's any justice, especially in this year when the word 'rock' signifies a genre that is in flux enough so as to be anyone's game, Dead Sara will stake their claim as a new kind of standard-bearer."

"We're super excited to have Dead Sara out on tour with us," said Dexter Holland, The Offspring. "Great players, great songs.  We'll be getting there early to see them tear it up."

The "L.A. quartet poised to breakout nationally" this year, was recently profiled by RollingStone.com as their debut single "Weatherman" continues to explode at radio, fast becoming the most requested song at stations across the country, and climbing its way up the charts. "Dead Sara rocks so hard they remind me of the days when alternative bands, like Soundgarden and Alice, got played on Headbangers Ball. See them, listen to the album, they never disappoint," says Julie Pilat of 98.7 KYSR. Dead Sara recently made their network television debut with a blistering, energetic performance of the single "Weatherman" on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The band also performed the album cut "Sorry For It All" as an online exclusive for Jimmy Kimmel Live! View both videos now online.

Dead Sara's 11-track self-titled debut, produced by Noah Shain (Atreyu, As Tall As Lions, Sonny Moore/Skrillex), is driven by the dynamic duo of two talented young women, singer Emily Armstrong and guitarist Siouxsie Medley. The band is rounded out by bassist Chris Null and drummer Sean Friday, creating an electrifying four-piece rock band whose supercharged music is propelled by Medley's exhilarating, monster guitar riffs and Armstrong's powerful, wailing vocals. Praised for their blazing impassioned rock and catchy guitar melodies, Dead Sara embody everything you want from a young, hungry, unpredictable and enigmatic rock band.
