Chasing Claymores: "Hindsight's 20/20"

Southern California has been known for its' pop-punk bands for years now (Blink 182 ring any bells?). The latest addition to that lineage is San Diego's Chasing Claymores. Together almost five years, but with a newly inked deal with Authentik Artists, Chasing Claymores are poised to grab attention with their just released EP Hindsight's 20/20. You know you've got a good thing going when you get to the end of an EP and wonder why the hell it wasn't a full album. Catchy, hook-laden, and very well produced this EP is definitely going to leave you wanting more from Chasing Claymores. They may not break new ground or reinvent the genre here, but this is a band of guys adept at showing the fact that they have spent their time in the trenches honing their craft and producing an EP that would be really hard to find any fault with. This brief, yet stellar release will make the perfect addition to your summer playlist, all for less than the price of your daily Starbucks fix!

May 29, 2012

Los Angeles, CA – Legendary punk rock pioneers STRUNG OUT are preparing to get Twisted In A Suburban Wasteland throughout the US and Canada this summer. They’ll be performing both of their most notable albums - 1996’s Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues and 1998’s Twisted By Design - in their entirety during each set. “It feels right to do one last retrospective before we head into the making of another album. I think people will really enjoy these older songs played back to back,” says lead vocalist Jason Cruz. The tour kicks off at Portland’s Hawthorne Theatre on July 17th, heads north to Canada for ten shows, then back across the US border to finish up the first string of dates. Such Gold, Handguns, and The Darlings will be supporting Strung Out on this trek (dates below). A second leg of dates for September/October will be announced shortly.
Easily one of the most influential punk bands still in existence today, Strung Out has managed to perfect the quintessential blend of punk, metal and hardcore in their twenty years of existence. Their blistering technical solos, pounding drums and raw punk fury opened the doors for punks to push the limits of not only their talents but also the entire genre, helping to define some of the biggest names in music today.
“Some of our very first tours were opening for Strung Out, so I had the opportunity to see them live over and over. Growing up in the punk scene, but always having one foot in the metal scene, I appreciated the metal they blended together with pop and punk. Their complex riffs and harmonies challenged and inspired the scores of bands that would walk in their footsteps…” –Tim McIlrath of Rise Against
“They were a huge influence on Thrice in our early stages, and I don’t think I’d be in a band today if they didn’t pique my interest in music back then…” –Riley Breckenridge of Thrice
“Strung Out was a major contributor to my musical influences growing up. I still love throwing on Strung Out to hear the soundtrack to some of my greatest summers…” –M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold

Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues and Twisted By Design were released on Fat Wreck Chords. Strung Out is Jason Cruz (vocals), Rob Ramos (guitar), Jake Kiley (guitar), Chris Aiken (bass), and Jordan Burns (drums).

Little Barrie Premier Video/Play West Coast

May 25, 2012

New York, NY- Fiery, garage-surf UK darlings LITTLE BARRIE have premiered the new video for their song "Tip It Over" on The video, which splices recording and tour footage from all over the world, provides an exciting look into the band's hectic life on the road and their renowned live show. It can be viewed at:
"Tip It Over" is from Little Barrie's 2012 release, King of the Waves, on Tummy Touch Records. The release has garnered accolades from publications around the globe including NME, The Sun, Magnet Magazine, and Relix. As Seattle's The Stranger deftly said, "Once in a while, a modern band will ape retro gestures and just nail 'em so righteously that you toss out all your hard-won reservations about derivativeness and revel in the zealous, on-point replication of it all. That's the case with Little Barrie." The band is also prepared to set out on a brief West Coast headlining tour which starts today (tour dates below).
Over the past several years, the band has dedicated themselves to honing their musical reputations, doing everything from appearing live with Primal Scream to collaborations with the likes of Morrissey and Mark Ronson. Guitarist/frontman Barrie Cadogan and bassist/vocalist Lewis Wharton are joined on King of the Waves by the new addition of drummer/vocalist Virgil Howe, son of renowned Yes guitarist Steve Howe. The resulting sound calls to mind an old school Detroit rock 'n' roll showdown between Link Wray and The Creation, with the MC5 and Motown's best in attendance to cheer both sides, and the omnipresent threat of a killer wave lurking just overhead. Longtime friend and collaborator Edwyn Collins co-produced the album with Little Barrie, just as he did their first, 2005's We Are Little Barrie. Engineer Sebastian Lewsley also returns on King of the Waves, recorded at Collins' West Heath Studios in North London.

Hot Water Music's "Exister" Makes Big Debut

May 23, 2012
"[Exister] finds the quartet returning to their roots in aggressive, emotionally volatile music." - Rolling Stone

Makes Big Debuts on the Charts
Fall Tour with Rise Against, The Gaslight Anthem

Hot Water Music’s EXISTER debuted this week at number #33 on the Billboard Top Current Albums this week with over 10,400 records sold. This marks the band’s highest debut in its illustrious career. Exister, which was released on May 15, 2012 via Rise Records also logged in at #3 Vinyl Albums, #8 Independent Albums, #3 Top Hard Music Albums, #15 Top Current Rock Albums, and #78 Overall Digital Albums (#68 Current Digital Albums). Considering this is their first full-length album in over eight years, it's quite a warm welcome from fans, both old and new. The release of the record was benchmarked by a handful of sold out shows on both coasts. East Coast fans were treated to a sold out First Unitarian Church show in Philadelphia (it sold out in a little over an hour), and two nights at the Gramercy Theatre in New York. The band will finish out their new release festivities this week on the West Coast with two sold out shows in California – the first at the Satellite in Los Angeles this Thursday, and the second at The Glasshouse in Pomona Saturday night. In addition, the band will head out this fall supporting Rise Against, along with The Gaslight Anthem (tour dates below).

Unanimously glowing, reviews for Exister have been pouring in by the bucketload. SPIN says, "the post-hardcore heroes didn't outgrow anxiety, they gave it hooks." In its 4.5 star review, Alternative Press says, "Exister serves as a reminder that the thousands of bands aping this style of punk will never be as great as Hot Water Music." On the other side of the pond, Kerrang! applauds, "Given this brilliant return, there's a good chance they're still your favourite band's favourite band."
Exister was recorded this past January at the Blasting Room in Fort Collins, CO with Descendents' Bill Stevenson (Bouncing Souls, Rise Against, NOFX) at the helm, "Recording the album was amazing... better than any of us expected, for sure," bassist Jason Black says. "It seems like the time off, coupled with everything we've all learned doing other projects and honing our respective crafts during that time, really worked in our favor and enabled us to have a basically unending flow of ideas and creative sparks."
Hot Water Music is Chuck Ragan (vocals, guitar), Chris Wollard (vocals, guitar), Jason Black (bass), and George Rebelo (drums). Exister was produced by Bill Stevenson and was released on May 15, 2012 on Rise Records.

Yellowcard Release "Always Summer"

First Song From Upcoming Album on Hopeless Records

Click for hi-res
After coming out of hiatus last year with their seventh studio album When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes to worldwide acclaim, Hopeless recording artists YELLOWCARD are getting ready for another big and powerful year with “ALWAYS SUMMER”, the first released song from the upcoming album due out later this Summer. With a new lineup (Josh Portman fills in for departing bassist Sean O’Donnell), Yellowcard have been hard at work in the studio with longtime producer Neal Avron, creating another career highpoint in a history filled with pinnacles. A fresh and energetic guitar-led track, “Always Summer” crashes out of the gate with their dual-guitar attack with a muscular rhythm section and punctuated by Sean Mackin’s distinctive violin, providing a perfect rallying cry that not only are Yellowcard back, but they’re here to stay. Confident and strengthened by the fan support they’ve received on their return with WYTTSY, this song is not only a love song of sorts, but also a thank you to their fans, in which Ryan Key sings, “I think I have everything I need / It got dark, but now I think I see / The World around is full of arms still reaching out to me.” The track streams exclusively on beginning on Monday, May 21st here: and will be available on iTunes starting Tuesday, May 22nd here:

With over two million albums sold and eight singles that have received significant Top 40 and Alternative radio airplay including the smash “Ocean Avenue”, Yellowcard’s most recent studio album, When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes debuted on at #19 on Billboard’s Top 200 albums and top ten charts worldwide when it was released last Spring. Their upcoming album is set for release this Summer and features guest vocals from Alex Gaskarth (All Time Low), Cassadee Pope (Hey Monday), and Tay Jardine (We Are The In Crowd).

Yellowcard is Ryan Key (vocals/guitar), Sean Mackin (violin), Longineu (“LP”) Parsons (drums), Ryan Mendez (guitar) and Josh Portman (bass).

STRAIGHT LINE STITCH have recently emerged as free agents and are looking for a new label to call home. Joining them on the road is former STRAIGHT LINE STITCH guitarist Kris Norris (ex-Darkest Hour), back with the group for two months of shredding alongside Kris Hawkins. “I think as a band we are looking forward mostly to just getting back to basics, and at the very heart of that is hitting the road and letting everyone know that STRAIGHT LINE STITCH is still going strong,” states front woman Alexis Brown. “There are some new faces in the mix but the feeling and the essence of the band is still the same, which is to go out and give it all we’ve got.”

Time To Start Thinking Warped!

So, it may not be quite summer yet, but it is time to start thinking about Warped Tour. For a change of pace this year there is no Los Angeles date on the tour, with a date in Irvine taking its place. There will also be the customary dates in San Diego(Chula Vista), Pomona and Ventura. While it is admittedly a bit sad that the So Cal dates will not include Rise Against or Lostprophets, there are alot of great bands playing our dates. Be sure to check out The Jukebox Romantics, one of the surprise highlights from a couple of years ago.
