For Immediate Release
November, 28, 2011

Rise Records Signs
The Early November

New Album Coming Spring 2012

More Tour Dates Announced

Rise Records is proud to announce the signing of The Early November. The influential New Jersey band is currently locked away at The Living Room Studio in Hammonton, NJ working on their first new record in six years, set to be released in the spring of 2012.

In a joint statement the band says, "We are pleased to announce that after a few years of rest and even longer since last recording, The Early November will be making another record to be released by the fine folks at Rise Records. Our very own Ace Enders will be recording and producing and even in these early stages, we are all incredibly excited and happy. Look for it and much more of The Early November in 2012. From the bottom of our collective heart, thank you all for the support all these years. It's truly overwhelming."

Lead singer and guitarist Enders also had this to say regarding the band’s decision to sign with Rise: “When we decided to make this album we thought really hard about where to release it. Since so much has changed in the music business we were afraid that we wouldn't find a place that allowed us the artistic integrity that our label did in the past. After talking with Rise we were really happy to find that support and excitement from them so we can make the record that we want to make for the long time fans.”

The band has just released a signing video which can be viewed here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7tIAT_swm8.

We Love Drummers: Jeremy Bryan of Alesana

More photos of Alesana from the recent SOMA show, this time focused on drummer Jeremy Bryan, who was quite glaringly left out of the recent Alternative Press Drummer feature. Oh, and if a representative of Vic Firth happens to be reading this, we will happily put you in contact with the photographer, as your sticks are quite brilliantly featured in these photos.

Lady Danville at Fox Theater Pomona

While Lady Danville have been on the radar of LA music fans for awhile now, they are still developing a wider audience as an opening act for such notables as Dashboard Confessional and Jack's Mannequin. It was in this position, as opener, that they played Fox Theater Pomona a couple of weeks ago on 11-12-2011. Tearing through their standard half hour set (highlighted by a crowd pleasing rendition of "I Want You Back"), the boys also returned later in the show to perform on a Jack's Mannequin tune, "Restless Dream". This has been an excellent experience for the band, who have toured with Jack's Mannequin before and seemed to have developed a great friendship with Andrew and the boys of Jack's Mannequin. New music from Lady Danville is in the offing as they prepare to head back into the studio in LA in the new year.

As I Lay Dying: Discussing Decas

For Immediate Release
As I Lay Dying’s Decas EP debuts at #61 on Billboard’s Top 200, reaches #2 on iTunes Rock Chart
EP Release Marks Band’s 10 Year Anniversary; New Studio Album To Follow In 2012
A Decade of Destruction Tour Kicks Off Nov 30th in Long Island, NY with
Support From Of Mice and Men, The Ghost Inside, iwrestledabearonce and Sylosis
AS I LAY DYING’s latest release, the Decas EP, is a collection of new tracks, covers, remixes and more, which reached #2 on the iTunes Rock chart and landed at #61 on Billboard’s Top 200 in its debut week. iTunes also offered a free track ("Paralyzed"), which was downloaded by a staggering 125,000 people in one week.
Meant to tide fans over until the release of the band’s hotly anticipated new studio LP (due for release next year), the Decas EP marks AS I LAY DYING’s decade of making music and features 3 new songs, 3 cover songs, remixes, and more.
As vocalist Tim Lambesis explains, “We wanted to at least do an EP when the idea first came up.  We were touring at the time and knew we wouldn’t have time to put together an entire album of new material. Decas literally means ten, and to me it is a collection of songs to celebrate our ten-year anniversary as a band.  We were able to round up three new songs that we felt represented the different sides to our band. There’s a song you’d generally expect from us, one on the heavier side, and then one of the most melodic songs we’ve ever done. We took a similar approach on the cover songs. We wanted one song that represented a thrashier, heavier influence. Interestingly enough we were asked to do a Slayer cover song with an anti-war theme for a video game months earlier, so that worked out perfectly. Next, we represented the melodic guitar influence with Judas Priest who is responsible for starting much of that within metal. Lastly, I came up with the idea to do a simple, raw, energetic song that was outside of our genre but still influential in some of our musical upbringing.”
The band recently sat down with Hot Topic to discuss Decas and the interview can be viewed here: http://youtu.be/N2KJ3nPwLvc.
AS I LAY DYING will kick off their headline run on the A Decade of Destruction Tour on November 30th with special guests Of Mice and Men, The Ghost Inside, iwrestledabearonce, and Sylosis (see dates below.)
What others are saying about Decas:
“This album is meant to be listened to with the speakers turned up all the way and your head soaring up and down. From some sick new originals to great covers and fun re-mixes, As I Lay Dying has created a great gift for their fans in Decas. (9 out of 10).”- Ultimate-guitar.com
Decas celebrates the 10-year anniversary of metalcore stalwarts As I Lay Dying’s… fans will enjoy the EP¹s new material and covers. Happy 10th anniversary, guys.”- Revolver
“Celebrating ten years of crushing metalcore, Decas is a grab bag of new tracks, remixes, and covers that seeks to show fans not only where the band is going, but where it came from. For those who have been around the block a few times with these guys, it’s an album that they won¹t want to miss out on.”- Allmusic.com
“ALID have built a reputation for releasing solid, punishing records and Decas is no different.”- Puregrainaudio.com

Please Donate to Help Musician James Murphy Cover Medical Expenses

James Murphy Has Brain Tumor Relapse; Donations Welcome

James Murphy, former guitarist of both Death and Testament, as well as founding member of the death metal band Disincarnate, has had a relapse of the  brain tumor that sidelined him back in 2001. Murphy stated that the tumor had returned but that it was a non malignant and that it was being treated pharmacologically. Unfortunately, those medications have serious side effects that have left him unable to work. The option for different medications is available, but at a cost of over $1000 a month, and he needs a minimum of 6 months of medication for treatment to be effective. With his medical expenses extremely high and James not being able to work due to the side effects of the current medications, the metal community is being asked to come together and help one of their brothers and donate to help him beat this once and for all.

In August 2001, Murphy was discovered to have a massive tumor growth near the base of his brain (on the pituitary gland) and was quickly scheduled for an urgent life-saving operation. James underwent surgery on September 17, 2001, involving a Maxillary Swing procedure that made entry through the left side of the face. An incision was made underneath the left eye, along the side of the nose, and finally through the middle of the upper lip. The facial tissue was then pulled back and the cheekbone removed. They then cut through James' sinus and made entry below the orbit of the eye to remove a portion of the growth. More was removed through an incision made in the soft pallet inside the mouth. About 70% of the tumor was removed, the remainder being too close to vital structures to risk further damage. The sinus was then packed with fat tissue taken from the lower abdomen via an incision below the navel and reattached. The cheekbone was set back in place and held with two small titanium plates. The facial tissue was then sutured closed along with the soft pallet. His mouth was fitted with prosthesis to protect the pallet tissue while it healed. The remaining 30% of the tumor was treated with a medication called Parlodel (Bromocriptine) to shrink it called which James was told he would have to take for the rest of his life. This treatment was more or less successful for 9 years.

A spike in the hormone indicator for the tumor, as discovered by a blood test that was followed up by an MRI to confirm, showed that the tumor was again active, and had grown a bit. Luckily not enough to require surgery, but radiation treatment was still on the table. The decision was made to defer the radiation treatment for 6 months, during which time the tumor would be attacked pharmacologically, increasing the dose of the drug used to hinder its growth to a level which leaves James wiped out, overly fatigued, nauseous, and unable to work to earn his living at full capacity. A better drug, one that has less side-effects, and would require a much smaller dosage is available, but vastly more expensive.

Bayside Launch Gumshoe Radio

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 14, 2011
BAYSIDE’s Anthony Raneri and Nick Ghanbarian
Unleash Gumshoe Radio on idobiradio.com

NEW YORK, NY – While most bands are “talked about” in the media, New York’s indie rockers BAYSIDE are going to do the talking instead. Vocalist/guitarist Anthony Raneri and bassist Nick Ghanbarian have announced the creation of “GUMSHOE RADIO”, a new internet radio show, airing Friday nights from 7pm to 9pm EST on idobiradio. “The best way to describe the show is to say that it's a live audio version of a blog,” says Raneri. “Whatever we are thinking about, discussing or listening to through the week that we want to share our knowledge or opinions on, we'll discuss on the show. It is basically a mix of a blog and a news site but on radio with lots of music.”
Over the course of the two hour program, the opinionated and outspoken hosts will engage in topical discussions about current events and subjects that are popping in alternative culture. “We really are here to entertain ourselves and the listeners,” he continues. “We want to not only give everyone something fun to listen to for a few hours on Friday but also spark a conversation on a subject or a new band for their whole weekend.” Instead of traditional radio formats that revolve around the same 20 to 30 songs replayed over the course of a day, Raneri and Ghanbarian will control the content of their playlists and playing whatever songs strike their fancy from classic punk to alternative, and introducing listeners to the newest bands in the underground, which will be showcased in the “New Music” segment.
Kicking off this Friday, November 18th, episodes of Gumshoe Radio will be taped the same week that they air to ensure that the news and discussions are up-to-date and relevant. “I think that between our blogs, twitters and all the interviews we do, we have realized that people really enjoy what we have to say about things,” Raneri explains. “Our take on different music and entertainment subjects and what music we're into at the moment has been a pretty hot topic for a couple of years now. We figured it would be fun to do a radio show and give our opinions on things and play a bunch of music that we dig.”
GUMSHOE RADIO logo
Hosted by insiders with a unique point of view and a special relationship to the industry and bands that they are discussing, Gumshoe Radio will be far more than just a platform for the band to discuss what’s on their own minds. In addition to weekly special guests and fresh playlists, Raneri and Ghanbarian plan to include interesting dialogue spanning the world of music, entertainment, and sports and while being stimulated and educated on topical discussions on current events. “Nick and I were sitting on a park bench in Boise, Idaho brainstorming names,” explains Raneri about the show’s name. “We thought Gumshoe was a good one and it fits the shows detective like feel. We basically spend weeks digging for facts and answers, and giving them to the listeners.”
Bayside’s most recent album, Killing Time, was released by Wind-Up Records on February 22, 2011. The album debuted at #35 on Billboard’s Top 200 charts and has received amazing reviews. MAXIM Magazine raved about Killing Time, “Take one part Weezer tunefulness and one part Nirvana aggression, add a dash of Green Day’s ambition, then shake, serve, rock out.” The ten track album was produced by the legendary Gil Norton, who has worked with an amazing group of artists including Foo Fighters, The Distillers, Jimmy Eat World and The Pixies.
Bayside is currently wrapping up a co-headlining national US tour with Saves the Day, I Am The Avalanche and Transit this week with two shows at NYC’s Irving Plaza on November 15th and 16th. Gumshoe Radio will air weekly on Fridays from 7-9pm EST starting November 18th on idobiradio.com.

Sam Larsen of The Glee Project

Part of the glee of working in the music industry for many years is watching people grow from little club act kids into significant artists. Never has this been more true than my discovery today (yeah, I know I'm late on this but I don't watch reality tv shows) that an artist I covered way back in 2007 (for the now defunct My Rockstar Gallery), Sam Larsen won The Glee Project and will have a featured role on the series this year. Rumor has it he will be brought in as a relative of Puck. Whether you love or hate Glee, this is a huge career break for an incredibly talented kid who has been working towards this for many, many years. Here's a trip down memory lane to some shots from back in 2007 when he and his band were playing a tiny coffee shop gig (and before he did the dreads).
Even at a very young age (I believe he was roughly 15 in these shots), it was incredibly clear that he had an undeniable talent as a singer and guitarist and a stage presence that was far beyond his years. So Sam, if you happen to read this, congrats
on your success. It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Graffiti Legend Mr. Kaves in Metallica Art Show

BROOKLYN GRAFFITI LEGEND MR. KAVES DESIGNS 2011 BEAUJOLAIS NOUVEAU LABEL AND WILL APPEAR IN METALLICA’S FIRST-EVER ART EXHIBIT

Brooklyn, NY: Bay Ridge native Mr. Kaves began his long relationship with graffiti by invading the tunnels of the NYC transit system at the insanely young age of 10.  To this day, he is a highly respected artist amongst his peers and also among the many cutting edge companies for which he has created priceless images – from Nike and Adidas, to the Beastie Boys and Everlast, to MTV and the WWE…  Each (and many others) has been blessed by his creativity and forward-facing talents.

Fast forward to Winter 2011 and you can add Georges Duboeuf and Metallica to the long list of those whom have invited Kaves into their universe of expression.  Mr. Duboeuf personally hand-picked this Brooklyn taste-maker to design the 2011 label for his prestigious Beaujolais Nouveau wine release.  “We wanted to expose people to the celebration of Nouveau and capture the wine’s essence and the energy and unique perspective of Kaves’ art seemed to be an ideal vehicle,” said Franck Duboeuf, Georges’ son and co-proprietor of Les Vins Georges Duboeuf.
Beaujolais Nouveau 2011 will be officially uncorked one minute past midnight on Thursday, November 17, at a party at Stage 37 in New York City, at which Kaves will be displaying a dozen new works.

In addition to the above, Mr. Kaves has also been selected to participate in an art tribute to heavy metal kingpins Metallica during their Obey Your Master exhibit beginning January 20th and running through March 23rd at Exhibit A Gallery in Los Angeles.  Other artists scheduled to be included are Shepard Fairey, groundbreaking skateboarders Tony Alva and Steve Caballero, Metallica’s Rob Trujillo, Slipknot founding member Shawn Crahan, Brian M. Viveros, Joe Petagno, Travis Louie and approximately 20 others.

For the exhibit, the artists have all chosen a specific Metallica song by and will execute their vision in their individual artistic mediums, based on their interpersonal relationship to Metallica’s lyrics and music.  Kaves explains “Metallica played a lot of their early East Coast shows at a club called L’amour in my backyard of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.  Now they’re arguably the biggest rock band on the planet and their music and lyrics have touched millions of people.  I’ve chosen the song that I have, which I can’t reveal until you see the painting, because I can relate the immense loss the band experienced on their way to becoming the band we now know.  I’ve experienced catastrophic loss in my life as well and feel a kinship to those guys as a result.”

LITTLE BARRIE ANNOUNCE RELEASE DATE FOR "Waves"

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 10, 2011

"King of the Waves rekindles the band's effervescent spirit but injects a fiery determination into Barrie's blueprint. The likes of 'Surf Hell' and 'Tip It Over' twitch with machine gun urgency, while 'Money In Paper' soars with a sawdust swagger and the producer's backing vocals. Gritty, wiry, it's good to have the little 'uns back." - Paul Stokes, NME

"Collaborators of choice to the A-list, Primal Scream, Weller, Spiritualized, Chemical Bros" - Word Magazine, June 2011
"King of the Waves rattles through stomping glam ("Surf Hell"), Roses-like dance shuffles ("Tip It Over") and a soupcon of acoustic voodoo motifs"
- Terry Staunton, Uncut, 4-star review

RISE TO THE OCCASION WITH THE RELEASE
OF THEIR THIRD ALBUM KING OF THE WAVES

New York, NY- Already being hailed throughout Europe, Japan, and much of the rest of the world for their incendiary rock 'n' roll, English trio LITTLE BARRIE are poised to make a huge splash in the United States with the release of their latest album KING OF THE WAVES on February 28, 2012 via Tummy Touch Records.
Since their last release in 2007, the band has dedicated themselves to honing their musical reputations, doing everything from appearing live with Primal Scream to collaborations with the likes of Morrissey and Mark Ronson. It's been nearly five years since Little Barrie has released new material, but King of the Waves definitively proves that it's been absolutely worth the wait. Guitarist/frontman Barrie Cadogan and bassist/vocalist Lewis Wharton are joined on the album by the new addition of drummer/vocalist Virgil Howe, son of renowned Yes guitarist Steve Howe. The resulting sound produced by the band is as intensely electrifying as one might expect from such a dynamic and in-demand group of individuals. It calls to mind an old school Detroit rock 'n' roll showdown between Link Wray and The Creation, with the MC5 and Motown's best in attendance to cheer both sides, and the omnipresent threat of a killer wave lurking just overhead.

Longtime friend and collaborator Edwyn Collins co-produced the album with Little Barrie, just as he did their first, 2005's We Are Little Barrie, and even sings backing vocals on the track "Money In Paper". Engineer Sebastian Lewsley also returns on King of the Waves, recorded at Collins' West Heath Studios in north London. Although the band members pursued their own projects following their 2007 release Stand Your Ground, eventually they found that all roads led them happily back to Collins to create their triumphant third release.
Little Barrie is already a massive success in Japan and elsewhere abroad, with a prestigious eight-page spread in Japanese Rolling Stone, and #1 and #2 positions on Japan's iTunes and Amazon charts respectively. They are currently playing select dates across Europe while preparing to take the United States by storm with the release of King of the Waves on February 28th and a spring tour with dates soon to be announced.

Since the first release back in 1994, if it's doped up, blissed out or living on the margins of the acceptable, it's found a loving home at the label. Having launched the careers of artists like Groove Armada, Tom Vek and The Phenomenal Handclap Band, Tummy Touch now has, according to the BBC, “an influence far in excess of its tiny size”.
Sit back and let Tummy Touch’s brand of Bohemian disco rock, sci-fi electro soul, unruly Latin mash ups and oddball urban exotica bring aural pleasures to the soundtrack of your musical world.
