Heat 2011 at UC Riverside

February 26th Heat 2011 is coming to UCR featuring a wide array of performers, including Against Me! and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, as well as assorted hip hop and dance/dj acts. Tickets are $44 in advance or $52 day of show, although there may not be same day availability if tickets sell out in advance. UCR has a long history of throwing successful events like this, so this will likely be a great show. All details can be found on the Heat 2011 website including information on parking, tickets, etc.

Bright Eyes - "The People's Key" - Streaming on NPR

Both the Pomona show at Fox Theatre and the Coachella date are now sold out, but between now and its' release date on 2/15/11 you can stream The People's Key in its' entirety on NPR. If you like what you hear, and you will, you can pre-order your own copy from Saddle Creek. According to their site if you pre-order  right away you will get access to download the album on the first of February and physical copies and bundles will ship by the 8th. This album is beautifully executed, and has already been called some of Conor's best work by several critics, as well as a likely candidate for best record of the year lists when 2011 comes to a close. If you are new to Bright Eyes, this is the seventh studio album from the band, so there is a plentiful back catalog to collect if you are into this. Like a number of recent releases, this is an album in the truest sense, and meant to be enjoyed beginning to end in order. If, however, I had to pick a best track it would have to be "Ladder Song", which I've been playing on repeat.  I'm sure it's no accident that the release date coincides with Conor's birthday, and landing high on the charts upon release will be a sort of birthday present to him, so be sure to pre-order today.

The Big 4 headed to Indio in April

The big music news in So Cal today was the announcement that the BIG 4 show will be coming to Indio in April for what is currently being billed as its only US date, although Lars (Metallica) went public this morning with the confirmation of the much speculated theory that if demand supports it, then there will  be more shows. For those of you that don't follow metal, the BIG 4 is Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth. They played a number of dates in Europe last year and released a much talked about DVD/Blu-ray. If you don't already own it, I highly suggest picking up the DVD to see what it's all about.

That date is going to be April 23 at the Polo Grounds. That is exactly one week after Coachella Festival at the same venue. This is actually a really brilliant idea in that costs are greatly reduced by the fact that they will keep all of the staging and rigging up from the previous week. Local hotel owners are sure to be jumping for joy, because this ensures they will be packed yet again. The same warnings apply to this show as applied to Coachella. This is going to be huge, hotels will book up fast,  and traffic will be horrendous, so plan accordingly and go early.

Tickets are set to go on sale Jan 28th at a reported rate of $99 plus fees. There will also be VIP options.
Here's the ticket link

A band, by any other name: Pacific Hurt at Detroit Bar: 1/31/11

Once upon a time, there was a little band that could. In 2006 they opened for Spitalfield at Chain Reaction, and their name was Aushua. While that is no longer their name, amazing tunes are still their game, and they take the stage next Monday night 1/31/11 at The Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa, for the last date of their month long residency. Joining them will be Foster the People (who have been getting played on KROQ of late) and Blonde Summer. The name of the band is Pacific Hurt these days, which is certainly easier to spell. But it really doesn't matter what you call them, it's only a matter of time before everyone knows their name. So get there early, cheer loudly, and in a year or two when they are headlining big venues, you can say you knew them when.

Alesana: Memory Lane 2007

Well, I don't know what you were doing in 2007, but if you were Alesana, you were playing Chain Reaction in May with Drop Dead, Gorgeous.

New Attack Attack Video - Check it Out

Escape The Fate - The Dead Masquerade

Escape The Fate return to So Cal in March (3/11/11)  at The Grove of Anaheim, as part of The Dead Masquerade tour, which kicked off yesterday in Tuscon, AZ. The tour also features Alesana, Motionless In White, Get Scared, and Drive A.  Full tour information can be found on their blog. Buy tickets. Since we haven't shot the band in awhile, and are the next to last date on the tour,  here's some old school shots of Max and to help convince you to come out. To say this should be a party would be an absurd understatement.
